Position Specific Description
The Principal Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting and developing budget/forecast processes, variance reports, and serve as a budget/forecast lead in support of FPL Energy Services (FPLES) residential and commercial business lines and initiatives with focus on the FPL regulated programs such as LED & Backup Generator Tariff Programs. The candidate must be proficient in BPC, BOBJ input and regulated reporting. The ideal candidate must have strong familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, proficiency in financial forecasting and analysis, and an ability to build productive working relationships across the organization in a positive and collaborative manner. The candidate will participate in special complex projects as requested. The candidate must have strong financial acumen, commercial and analytical skills and be proficient advanced excel and financial modeling; in addition to preparation of financial statements including balance sheet and statement of cash flow.
General Responsibilities:
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly budget and forecast reports and analytics General oversight of FPLES budget/forecast processes and internal controls Ensure the forecasting accuracy of assigned FPLES business lines and special projects across multiple reporting entities Support commercial and residential business lines by providing accurate and timely guidance in support of current and new product initiatives Resolution of forecasting matters as they arise, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and implementing determined courses of action Prepares ad hoc analyses and reports as needed Project management skills inclusive of setting timelines/project plan, establishing assignments/priorities, and delivering according to project plan Presentation of budget and forecast information in concise and articulate manner to senior management Job OverviewEmployees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling. This position identifies and conducts complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities• Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department’s forecasting models
• Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
• Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
• Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
• Makes recommendations on financing decisions and executes long and/or short term financings
• Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management
• Acts as a mentor to lower level employees
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
