The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM) seeks a Principal Financial Analyst to join the Financial Affairs Office, which supports the school's strategic decision-making and financial operations. DGSOM encompasses 24 academic departments, 5 research units, 8 interdisciplinary centers, 3,400 faculty, 2,900 trainees, and 8,400 staff, with an annual revenue of $3.8B.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner for Research & Education, this role handles month- and year-end close processes, revenue recognition, account reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting. The Principal Financial Analyst collaborates with senior management, department managers, auditors, and accrediting agencies while leading financial planning and analysis for Dean's Office sales and service programs.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and analyzing financial reports, improving business processes, managing budgets and funds, and using tools like SQL Server and Power BI. The role demands advanced project management, proficiency in financial systems, and expertise in Government and Non-Profit accounting.
The ideal candidate will excel in financial reporting, detail-oriented analysis, and stakeholder collaboration, with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. They should be proactive, flexible, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
Annual Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $202,200.00
Qualifications
All Required:
+ BA/BS with a major in accounting or a related field or equivalent experience/training.
+ Minimum 6-7 years' experience in financial reporting, financial management, and general ledger at a large and complex organization.
+ Minimum 2-3 years' experience leading projects using well established PMO tools and frameworks
+ Thorough knowledge of and current hands-on experience with fund accounting and regulatory compliance strongly preferred
+ Knowledge of GAAP and GASB
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex and diverse information; collect and research data and use intuition and experience to complement data
+ Demonstrated problem-solving skills; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations
+ Demonstrated commitment to quality and accuracy; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality
+ Strong organizational and time management skills
+ Advanced Excel skills, proficiency in data query and reporting tools such as SQL and Power BI
+ Ability to communicate effectively, collaboratively, and professionally
+ Team player with a strong desire to learn new skills
+ Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, supporting the principles set forth by the DGSOM Cultural North Star
