Ingredion is hiring a Principal Food Technologist - Technical Service to provide technical support and expertise to customers for a broad range of food & beverage applications. The Principal Technical Service Technologist will support our Global and Regional Accounts team in the US/Canada region, in new product development and creating customer valued solutions. The Principal Food Technologist will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab bench top scale utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices. They will also perform research related duties as needed or assigned, support internal and external customer request; execute on analytical testing as well as document and prepare technical reports with guidance from manager.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead the Savory Customer Experience Team (CET) and ensure alignment with the business strategy and customer needs.Brings new technologies and solutions to customers by connecting and collaborating with internal and external customers.Through Savory CET leadership, generates and makes valuable data available to others. Identifies formulation challenges, solve problems, and develops new, innovative ideas.Leads and supports prototype development & application testsUtilizes project management skills to manage and prioritize work, executing work packages & project plans according to shifting goals to align with business needs. Understands project priorities and workload to balance multiple demands and deliver projects on time.Support the development and roll out of Customer, Sales and Marketing projects and initiativesLearn, utilize, and strengthen understanding of the function of our products and how they interact with other ingredients in a range of applications.Understand packaged food markets and trends in different application segments with expertise in savory categoriesUnderstands internal and external customers’ technical needs and supports Go-To-Market teams and can manage senior stakeholdersResponds to customer needs; proactively in seeking external knowledge to improve own understanding and work output.Collaborates closely with our Sales, Marketing, and Global Applications teams as well as with individuals on our CSPI Team.Collaborates directly with customers via phone, face-to-face meetings, presentations, and at trade shows to develop new and creative food concepts, solutions, and product introductions.Builds and maintains strong relationships with senior stakeholders within and outside the organization and communicates effectively with themQualified candidates will have:
Master's/Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related scientific field (e.g. Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering) with 5 to 7+ years of product development experience preferably in human foodsKnowledge of common food processes is required, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions such as starches, hydrocolloids, fats, proteins etc., is a plusAbility to formulate products across a range of food categoriesDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required for formulation development, optimization, and troubleshooting is requiredPrevious laboratory pilot plant & bench top expertise in a research food laboratory/product development environment is requiredAbility to delegate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work meets standards and deadlines.Ability to deal well with ambiguity and embrace a dynamic work environment and work with cross-functional teamsHighly organized, detail oriented, and can multi-taskTeam player and excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills. $78,700.00-$104,966.67 AnnualThis pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
Incentive Compensation:
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
