Kleinfelder is seeking a creative and talented Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead its geotechnical engineering practice in Nevada.
Kleinfelder's Nevada offices support a variety of public and private clients in the areas of Transportation, Energy, Water, Facilities and other projects. The Geotechnical practice in Nevada is looking for a dynamic leader to grow the local practice and restore the team to its once prominent position. The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and overseeing the technical practice of the team.
As part of the assigned duties, the Principal Geotechnical Engineer will lead the business development activities including the development of the technical scope for proposals, schedule and budget for projects of various sizes. This position commands a dynamic leader who has strong leadership and technical capabilities, communication skills, previous project management experience, and the ability to connect and work with clients and teams as well as formulate a local marketing plan and mentor staff.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Pro-actively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutionsDemonstrate technical expertise in geotechnics, slope stability, foundation design and earthworkPossess excellent verbal and written communication skillsLead a team of geotechnical engineers and professionally develop staff at all levelsAttract, hire and mentor strong new team membersInterface with the civil design team to develop and value-engineer practical, fit-for-use grading plansDevelop strategic pursuits and proposalsOrganize priorities and multi-task effectivelyCollaborate with area leadership and project managers to resource delivery effectivelyOversee management of projects from cradle-to-grave in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentExhibit external focus to grow client relationships and develop business through the workPossess a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment
Experience:
Candidates are required to have 10+ years of related experience.Proven experience in all aspects of geotechnical design and local issues and practicesPast experience or similar related talents in leading diverse project teamsProven experience in business development opportunities and preparing proposals
Education:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, MS degree in geotechnical engineering or equivalent highly preferred Nevada Professional Engineering license requiredMinimum of 10 years of geotechnical experience in a consulting engineering firmMinimum of 4 years of previous project management experience
