Role description: Due to an exciting growth period in our Sydney office, we are actively looking for a Principal Highways Engineer to join our core Civil Infrastructure business unit. This role will play a key part in leading civil engineering design and delivery on a diverse range of small to large scale multi-disciplinary projects in our NSW Team.   Role accountabilities: Liaison, interface and representing Arcadis with key clients and contractors;   Technical leadership for selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, collaborating with other design disciplines ensuring the integrity of the overall design, quality assurance, and client expectations are met;   Technical responsibility for all aspects of civil and highways design including road alignment, road furniture, signs & lines, earthworks, construction staging, constructability and interfaces with other disciplines;   Understanding our client’s businesses, to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry;   Providing direction to the project team and promoting awareness of technical and commercial risk assessments, mitigation and best value design options; and   Supervising and assessing junior engineers, road designers and CAD Technicians and guide them in the delivery of projects and their professional development.   Qualifications & Experience:

You are a registered or accredited professional with extensive experience in successful project delivery and will come to us with:  

A collaborative approach and appreciation of the value of teamwork;   A strong client focus;   A passion for continuous improvement, quality and improving service for our clients;   Extensive design experience (>10 years) delivering transport and civil infrastructure projects;   Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation;   Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with proven experience of managing and delivering design solutions;   Proven ability to lead, with good influencing, motivation and delegation skills; and   Sound knowledge and experience working with local design standards including Austroads Guide to Road Design and specifications   Why Arcadis?
