Overview TRC Companies, Inc. is a global consulting, engineering, and construction management firm that provides integrated services to the energy, environmental, and infrastructure markets. TRC serves a broad range of clients in government and industry, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation. TRC has an opening for a Principal Investigator for Cultural Resources reporting to and/or based in our Concord, California office. Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects. The position will work with other environmental and cultural resources staff to further develop TRC's cultural resource program in California and the west coast region. The successful candidate will assist in managing agency and client relationships, marketing, and proposal development; assist and advise other cultural resources staff; and direct and manage large and complex cultural resources projects. We are seeking an individual enthusiastic about cultural resource management and historic preservation with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. This position will require some travel based on client project needs. The potential to work from various locations within California. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities: The individual will be responsible for overall management and direct supervision, including fieldwork, of all types of archaeological field and archival projects, ranging from small local surveys through large, multi-year and multi-state projects. Duties will include marketing; proposal development; staff mentorship, client coordination; regulatory coordinate, and Native American Tribal coordination and outreach. Development and implementation of budgets, research designs, work plans, schedules, analyses and reporting. The Principal Investigator will work closely with the West Coast Cultural Team of archaeologists, environmental staff, permitting specialists, and managers in TRC's Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice. We are looking for an individual enthusiastic about their work with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. Provides business development collaboration with existing clients and identifies new opportunities to expand services within the TRC client base. The candidate will have the potential to bring in new work and possess solid relationships with the SHPO, THPOs, and other Federal, State, and Municipal Government archaeological staff in California and throughout the west region in general. The position will include regular travel. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in anthropology, archaeology, history, architectural history, historic preservation, architecture, or closely related field; 10 or more years' experience of progressive experience in the archaeology and/or architectural history of California and the surrounding region; Knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental review processes, and compliance requirements (e.g., Section 106 and California Environmental Quality Act); Meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications for Archaeology, History, Architectural History, or Historic Architecture; Experience and ability to serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for projects and able to obtain permits from the State of California, BLM, BIA, National Forests, State Parks, and adjoining states as needed; The successful candidate must be able to work well with existing clients and establish their own relationship with them; Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, peer-reviewing, public speaking; Excellent interpersonal and management skills; Excelled data management and organizational skills; Ability to work closely with engineers and other technical specialists as part of a larger project team; Familiarity with digital field technology (e.g., Fulcrum app, Trimble, GPS, total station, etc.) and GIS applications and software; Ability to write high quality scientifically sound technical reports; A history of preparing successful proposals in a timely manner; A track record of meeting client and internal company deadlines; A commitment to safety; A valid driver's license with a clean driving record; and Successful completion of a background check and drug screen. Preferred Qualifications: Previous success working with CA utilities; Background in one or more of the following specialties: architectural history, underwater archaeology, or bioarchaeology; Previous experience in following states is preferable: OR, WA, NV, and AZ; Able to obtain PI certification in multiple states, is a plus. #LI-AN1 Benefits*: TRC offers a competitive benefit package consisting of: Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance. 401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee. .
