The SAP Electric Ops Work Management Delivery organization provides SAP IT services to the Electric line of business. The organization is responsible for strategic technology planning, roadmap development, solution design, solution delivery, and solution support. 


Position Summary
As a Principal IT SAP Functional Analyst – Payroll, you will play a critical role in implementing, configuring, and maintaining our SAP Payroll solutions. Your expertise will ensure the seamless integration of the module with other business systems, optimizing our processes and data management practices. 


The Functional Analyst analyzes business requirements, creates functional design documents, and performs system configuration and localization to provide system solutions for the Line of Business and IT organizations. This role is viewed as an integral strategic partner and business liaison in technology decisions and provides ongoing system support. This includes analyzing business requirements and developing integrated IT and complex business solutions.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $244,000.00

&/OR​

California Minimum: $137,000.00

California Maximum: $232,000.00

 

This position requires at least 3 days in-person in office at our Oakland Headquarters. Working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

Serve as the Principal IT Analyst for SAP Payroll, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) Payroll, and Time Management systems, including Workforce Systems (WFS), leading the design, implementation, and ongoing management of these systems. Lead the configuration, customization, and integration of SAP Payroll and EC Payroll solutions, ensuring seamless alignment with HR processes, compliance requirements, and business objectives. Oversee the integration of Time Management systems, including Workforce Systems (WFS), with SAP Payroll and EC Payroll, ensuring accurate time tracking, payroll processing, and adherence to California & other state labor laws. Manage and support the integration of SAP Payroll and EC Payroll with SAP S/4 HANA, particularly focusing on the alignment and synchronization with S/4 HANA Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and payroll accounting. Collaborate with HR, IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to understand payroll, time management, and financial requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions within the SAP ecosystem. Provide expert-level support for SAP Payroll, EC Payroll, Time Management, and S/4 HANA Finance integration, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues to minimize disruption to payroll and HR operations. Lead end-to-end payroll processes within SAP, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with California, Federal and other US States, and local payroll regulations. Ensure smooth integration of SAP Payroll and Time Management with other SAP modules (e.g., Employee Central, Compensation, Performance Management) and third-party systems, focusing on consistent data flow and process optimization. Stay updated with the latest SAP releases, enhancements, and industry best practices in payroll, time management, and S/4 HANA Finance, advising on the adoption of new features to improve system functionality and compliance. Conduct regular system audits and reviews, ensuring data integrity, security, and adherence to organizational policies and regulatory standards, particularly in relation to payroll and financial processes. Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users, ensuring they are proficient in using SAP Payroll, EC Payroll, Time Management systems, and understand their integration with S/4 HANA Finance. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making related to payroll, time management, and financial systems, providing technical expertise and insights to drive continuous improvement. Collaborate with external vendors and consultants to ensure the successful deployment and optimization of SAP Payroll, Time Management, and S/4 HANA Finance solutions.


Qualifications

Minimum:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with specific expertise in SAP systems. 7+ years of experience in IT project implementation, with a focus on SAP Payroll, EC Payroll, and Time Management Extensive experience with SAP S/4 HANA, particularly in integrating SAP Payroll and EC Payroll with S/4 HANA Finance


Desired:

Proven expertise in SAP Payroll, SuccessFactors EC Payroll, Time Management, and Workforce Systems (WFS), including integration with SAP S/4 HANA and S/4 HANA Finance. Strong understanding of payroll processes, time management, financial accounting, and compliance requirements, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Integration Center, SAP CPI (Cloud Platform Integration), and API management. Knowledge of HRIS, payroll architecture, and financial integration points between SAP Payroll, S/4 HANA Finance, and other SAP modules. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration and payroll issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Certifications in relevant SAP modules, including SAP Payroll, SuccessFactors, and S/4 HANA, are highly desirable. Graduate Degree or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in business analysis or enterprise architecture. 10+ years of job-related experience. CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification is an advantage. Experience in large SAP implementations 20-40 K employees in utilities and Union environment.
