A client of ours is seeking **Principal Machine Design Engineer** to join their team! The Principal Mechanical Engineer serves as a technical leader within the engineering and project teams, providing key expertise in mechanical design and development. The Principal Mechanical Engineer leads the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality objectives. Candidates must have 10 years of machine design experience to be considered for this opening!
**Job Title:** Principal Machine Design Engineer
**Location:** Blaine, MN
**Salary:** 130-155k
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead the development of project concepts and support formal quotations and cost estimates during the bidding process.
+ Conduct risk assessments concerning cost, performance, and scheduling during the quoting and execution phases of projects.
+ Provide expert technical consultation to engineers and project managers regarding design specifications, progress, risk management, and project execution.
+ Contribute to vendor selection processes during project development and ensure that appropriate resources are identified and aligned with project requirements.
+ Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems and components, offering expert guidance on best practices, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
+ Oversee the creation of detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation, ensuring that all designs meet industry standards and company quality objectives.
+ Lead project teams to successful project completion through effective management of project execution.
+ Conduct design reviews, providing critical feedback to optimize product designs and development processes.
**Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant machine design experience, OR a related two-year post-high school diploma/certificate with a minimum of 15 years of experience in custom automation.
+ Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Broad knowledge of machine design, automation technologies, and machine safety requirements.
+ Ability to design pneumatic systems and read pneumatic schematics.
+ Strong foundation in performing various engineering calculations (e.g., structural, kinematics, dynamics).
+ Proficiency in FEA software (SolidWorks Simulation preferred).
