**Position Summary**
This role is responsible for leading new product introduction efforts from a manufacturing viewpoint for all new development connector and cable assembly design projects generated by the Irvine New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Product Engineering teams. The position involves collaborating with product design engineers from the point of conceptual design through design release to ensure design for manufacturability is optimized and manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment are identified, documented, and validated prior to handoff to the production factories. This position is a working position with hands-on product and process development required.
**Essential Responsibilities**
+ Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) critique and recommendations at all stages of the new product design cycle.
+ Represent the production organization in all new product design reviews from concept to release and partner with responsible engineers to evaluate designs for cost, producibility, inspectability, accuracy, and conformance to requirements.
+ Generally responsible for the introduction of new processes and equipment from concept to implementation to support new product development. This would typically include manufacturing process development, process documentation, operator training and certification requirements, and identifying tooling and equipment needs.
+ Participate with NPD and production operators for new product development builds in prototype and pilot production settings, including training of operators and coordination with design engineers and production leadership.
+ Work closely with factory Manufacturing Engineers and production planners and production management to ensure new product introductions are transitioned successfully without issues into the production environment.
+ Design, lead and execute new equipment and process validations.
+ Oversee the complete manufacturing validation for new products developed that need to be introduced to the North American Connector factories - drive supply chain readiness and handover from launch planning to production planning; organize and oversee factory transition to production Manufacturing Engineers.
+ Work closely with Procurement to select and qualify NPD vendors. Work with NPDvendors to communicate producibility and DFM feedback to design engineering teams.
+ Provide technical support for new equipment evaluation, assist with the installation, startup, training, and product launch phases.
+ Research, study, propose, and implement innovative equipment and new technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.

**Position Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
+ 10+ years’ experience in an Electro-Mechanical production environment, preferably in connectors.
+ Expert level knowledge in the processes required to manufacture electrical connectors and complex cable assemblies.
+ CREO Parametric 3D Modeling/Documentation experience
+ Excellent knowledge of design for manufacture, process design and validation, and assembly methods.
+ Extensive expertise in transitioning new product designs into manufacturing.
+ 5+ years of experience developing and implementing new equipment, processes, and procedures.
+ Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Highly self-motivated and a willingness to make a difference.
+ Excellent communication skills and ability to work with different departments.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Excellent collaboration skills, ability to work well in a team setting.

**Equal Pay Act Range**
Annual salary range is from $164,900.00 to $263,500.00, plus benefits & incentive plan.
