Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer located in El Segundo, CA to make the industry’s most complex manufacturing processes predictable and repeatable.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for the design and development of manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures and the maintain of work instructions to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality. Employee develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, quality standards and designs, implement manufacturing processes for new or revised products in support of engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

Solve day-to-day issues on the manufacturing shop floorIdentify & implement opportunities to reduce time or costSimplify techniques & skill requirements to make processes repeatableAnalyze quality metrics for nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and create repair plansDefine concepts of how to use manufacturing tools required to manufacture composite parts, and evaluate & implement tool improvementsAuthor & maintain composite fabrication & sub-assembly process work instructions, part work instructions and visual aids to perform all manufacturing jobsIdentify unsafe processes and establish initiatives to improve safetyCollaborate with various functions within Northrop Grumman, and work with internal/external customers & suppliers

Basic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of related experience, OR a STEM master’s degree with 3 years of related experienceJob may start as a split-shift schedule and transition to another schedule (1st, 2nd or alternate work schedule)Ability to work occasional weekends, holidays, second shift, and/or alternate work schedulesAbility and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environmentMust be driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvementMust have effective time management skills, attention to detail and ability to work aloneThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

Current DOD Secret Clearance or higherExperience with composite fabrication, bonded structures, and assembliesExperience with CATIA, SAP, Manufacturing Execution System, Romer Arm, and GD&TExperience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery ratesLean Manufacturing experience

Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
