DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a Principal/Market Director based in the Pacific Northwest and/or the Southwest Regions who will be responsible for leading the strategy for growth and success in the marketing and delivery of full-service A&E services for Private and Public Sector, and Federal clients. Specifically, our priority is to grow MEP, Structural, Fire Protection Engineering services as well as Cybersecurity consulting services while capitalizing on the opportunity to grow architecture, planning and other related services. The company continues to win contracts and expand its coverage in Federal, Aviation, Transit and other public sector projects with a strategy to grow the business in private sector markets to include Corporate, Industrial, Manufacturing, Lifesciences, etc. This position requires close partnership and coordination with our marketing and business development team as well as affiliate companies to pursue opportunities and leverage existing clients and markets. This individual in this role will develop and drive the implementation of the strategic business development plans to expand the SRS practice in the region, including identifying and pursuing new market opportunities as well as expanding existing client and industry partner relationships. The role will also be responsible for all financial management, as well as overall production/project oversight working closely with our Architecture and Engineering leaders. Essential Responsibilities: Provides leadership to the operations and functional teams in the local office, ensuring alignment with company objectives. This is a seller doer role with 50% target utilization on projects. The individual serves as the Account Lead for portfolio of projects and clients they develop in the region. Focuses on new business development and cultivating client relationships in private sector markets to include Corporate, Industrial, Manufacturing, Lifesciences, etc. Maximize Michael Baker’s industry exposure and capabilities in these markets, including expanding relationships with clients and industry partners while embracing emerging technologies and innovations. Assists our Federal, Infrastructure Architecture (Aviation, Transit, etc.) teams in the growth of these sectors and with client and industry partner relationship development as required. Grows new clients and diversify our services, drive business development strategy with the local and regional BD team to broaden the capabilities of the office/region and grow the business. Actively engage in business development strategy with project managers, subject matter experts, market and practice Leads, operations, and regional directors. Assist and/or lead the strategy and messaging for targeted pursuits, including all elements to craft winning proposals. Assist with the development of gap analyses, competitive assessments, discriminators and key win themes, and overall win strategy/value proposition. Participate in the development and execution of capture plans with the objective of increasing the win probability of targeted pursuits. Participate in Go/No-Go evaluations. Understand company and partner capabilities and limitations; assemble strategic teams and partnerships when desired; learn from industry leaders and review publications. Assist with external teaming arrangements and partnerships to include identifying, selecting, and recruiting consultant partners and subconsultants. Leverage capabilities of and coordinate pursuits and work with sister and affiliate companies to grow revenue and client relationships across the portfolio of companies. Oversees complex projects to successful completion (on time, on budget). Manage the financial health including budgeting, forecasting and financial performance of the projects being led by the individual. Ensure quality delivery of all projects by ensuring robust quality control processes are followed. Accountable for metrics including, but not limited to: Revenue and Contribution Profit Net New Work Added and Backlog Headcount & Utilization Mentor and motivate staff on performance feedback, technical guidance, financial management, and client relations. Identify and develop emerging talent and leadership to create upward opportunity and succession planning.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct teams in various business development and operations and/or project related functions. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these teams. Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS 15 years related experience in Architecture or Engineering leadership roles. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business, or related field required. Proven experience in A&E services and project management. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team. Excellent communications and negotiation abilities. Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices. Proper license or certificate strongly preferred.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position $175,000 - $275,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
The role is eligible for performance bonus commensurate with performance and metrics established upon joining Michael Baker.
