This position is based in Nashville, TN.
In this position, you will report to the Engineering Manager and work with design engineers to develop, implement and analyze test methods, manage all aspects of product life cycle, including failure analysis and ensure that the highest levels of reliability, quality and performance are observed.
Responsibilities Collaborate with product design team to analyze preliminary engineering-design concepts of major products to recommend design and/or test methods for attaining customer-specified operational reliability.Ensures that test methods and processes meet both industry standards and customer reliability objectives.Actively participate in design review meetings to ensure all aspects of the development plan are maintained.Manage Design and Process Failure and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.Identifies stresses such as transient conditions, temperature, humidity, and other factors to analyze and adjust design to improve system reliability. Identify and ensure appropriate test points monitored during testing (test point soldering, thermocoupling components).Conduct failure analysis on nonconforming units.Ensure all testing duration and sample size meets statistical standard. Provide guidance to internal team and interface with suppliers regarding reliability testing and analysis. Reviews engineering specifications and drawings, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements. Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors, such as numbers and causes of unit failures. Collaborate with quality engineering to manage field failure and propose corrective actions using Root Cause Analysis methods. QualificationsCapabilities/Experience:
8 years with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an appliance engineering role.Knowledge of engineering tools and techniques for robust design such as CFD, FEA, LabView, Matlab, etc.Knowledge of heat pump and gas appliance design, manufacturing, and assembly processes.Demonstrated experience with the engineering of products from conception to commercialization, balancing cost, schedule and Voice of Customer in the design process.Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with reliability and manufacturing engineers.Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication and analytical skills are highly desirable.Skill at developing and delivering technical presentations to non-technical staff and executives is desirable.Education:
BS in an engineering discipline, MS preferred
