Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing User Requirement Specifications (URS), generating responses, identifying technical touch points, performing tolerance analysis, and defining throughput rates. They will also be responsible for ensuring that engineering documentation and traceability align with requirements, defining requirements for Major Purchased Components (MPC's), and ensuring mechanical engineering standards are implemented correctly.
ResponsibilitiesReview User Requirement Specifications (URS) and generate responses to document exclusions and clarifications.Identify technical touch points and evaluate each risk to determine mitigation strategies.Perform and document tolerance analysis to ensure positional requirements are achievable.Define throughput rates for system, station, and processes to achieve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) requirements.Generate timing diagrams to determine if proposed motion sequences and interactions meet cycle rate requirements.Define CAD file structure and ensure engineering documentation and traceability align with requirements.Define requirements for Major Purchased Components (MPC's), identify potential suppliers, request and review proposals, and select suppliers.Ensure mechanical engineering standards are defined, understood, and implemented correctly.Define process maps, automation sequences, and individual technologies required to achieve project goals.Identify the need and define requirements for finite element analysis, including mechanical loads, frequency, thermal, and fluid flow.Document engineering calculations used to define and meet design and safety requirements.Perform Proof of Principal testing to understand limits, risks, and viability of design elements.Essential Skills10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in medical devices.Proficiency in SolidWorks and machine design.Experience with automation and CAD design.Strong understanding of mechanical loads, frequency, thermal, and fluid flow analysis.Additional Skills & QualificationsParticipate as a technical expert on Quotation Prep Team.Review and determine the completeness of customer specifications and drawings.Identify conflicting industry standards and required training.Estimate design and engineering hours for proposals.Identify critical components and plan mitigation steps to prevent delays.Coordinate efforts to identify and prioritize long lead time items.Work with project managers to define execution plans and prioritize tasks.Prepare documentation requirements with the client and documentation coordinator.Ensure design verification checklist information is complete.Develop and iterate Concept CAD Model for overall footprint and operator interface.Create and maintain CAD assembly models to define mechanical definitions of automated machinery.Document customer floor layout requirements.Work with Controls Engineering to define guarding requirements and safety devices.Create Safety Risk Assessments and mitigation plans.Identify project-specific training requirements.Participate in formal design reviews.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00
3.5 weeks of PTO. maybe up to
10 holidays
Can get more detail if needed
Want them to start onsite 100% of time but after someone gets a good rythm they will support hybrid schedules if needed
