Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Landing Gear Systems Engineering Supervisor to lead a technical team located in Poway, CA. The ideal candidate for this role will supervise, mentor, and direct team members in addition to maintaining their own technical workload. With limited direction, this position exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and solution to advanced technical engineering problems. The candidate will formulate long-term plans for solution development, documentation, and deployment, while ensuring compliance, reporting, and safety standards. The role involves evaluating the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment, ensuring documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed. The candidate will communicate with engineering professionals, solution users, and management throughout the solution development cycle, represent the company as a prime technical contact on contracts and projects, interact with senior external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations, and participate in the development of new or expansion of existing business.
ResponsibilitiesLead an engineering team, meeting critical program milestones on multiple contracts while successfully executing programs within the defined cost and schedule.Complete, document, and present program technical reviews.Determine technical objectives for solutions to advanced technical engineering problems.Represent the organization as a prime technical contact within an engineering team for assigned projects/programs.Formulate plans and guide the development and implementation of engineering solutions, including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, and compliance and safety.Plan and coordinate the maintenance of engineering solutions, including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical and other presentations to ensure viability of the solutions in an evolving environment.Plan for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology.Participate in or lead the development of new or expansion of existing business opportunities.Participate in the planning, hiring, development, and retention of engineering team.Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Perform other duties as assigned.Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and guidelines.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.Nine or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, seven or more years with a master's degree, or four or more years with a PhD. Equivalent engineering experience may be considered in lieu of education.Extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice.Ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective interface with other departments and professionals.Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving environment.Customer-focused approach, formulating plans based on innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.Ability to work extended hours as required.Additional Skills & QualificationsProfessional Engineering License.Original works published in professional engineering journals.Invitations to present original works at engineering symposiums.Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance.Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment with up to 1 day per week remote work from home, depending on project needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $190000.00/yr.
