**Principal Medical Science Liaison - Inflammation - Western Florida**

**What you will do**

In this vital role the Principal Medical Science Liaison (PMSL) elevates the MSL role nationally through mentorship and training, provides strategic leadership for priority cross-functional projects, and continues to demonstrate scientific expertise while engaging Opinion Leaders, Population Health Decision Makers, and other HCPs. The Inflammation PMSL is a field-based position within the U.S. Medical team reporting to the Inflammation MSL Field Lead.
**Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:**
**Scientific Leadership and Expertise**
+ Engage in peer-to-peer scientific exchange with Inflammation Opinion Leaders, community healthcare providers, and Population Health Decision Makers to advance the scientific platform as aligned with Amgen’s corporate goals and objectives
+ Expertly navigate the broader healthcare ecosystem and Amgen business landscape, representing the team in high-level discussions with key priority Healthcare Organizations and Integrated Delivery Networks to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes
+ Demonstrating scientific acumen and confidence, engage with key national and internal stakeholders, demonstrating expertise and leadership that influence scientific and clinical conversations on a broader scale
+ Support Amgen-sponsored research, congress activities, and speaker trainings as needed
+ Serve as the primary scientific, clinical, and pharmacoeconomic resource for the national MSL team and cross-functional partners
**Strategic and Operational Leadership**
+ Collaborate with internal partners and cross-functional teams, representing the Field Medical perspective to senior leadership and field teams, acting on behalf of the MSL Lead
+ Proactively identify gaps and opportunities, develop comprehensive plans to address them, and spearhead efforts that align with and advance broader organizational goals
+ Lead complex projects in a highly matrixed environment, working effectively and efficiently with cross-functional colleagues
+ Consolidate Field Medical insights – including those related to the reimbursement/payer landscape – into concise, impactful reports, sharing observations and insights with internal partners as needed
+ Lead Field Medical initiatives that support the development and advancement of clinical research, population health research, and product life cycle strategies
+ Contribute to the development of Scientific Engagement Plans, Quarterly Medical Reviews, and other medical processes and projects that demonstrate MSL value proposition
+ Support the therapeutic area MSL leadership team and other internal partners in developing national tactics that demonstrate MSL impact
**Mentorship and Training**
+ Mentor MSL team members, providing shadowing and reverse shadowing opportunities, and actively sharing knowledge to improve day-to-day scientific engagement and operational effectiveness, complementing the broader developmental and performance goals addressed by MSL managers
+ Facilitate new hire integration by providing shadowing opportunities, demonstrating role success, and offering feedback and guidance to accelerate assimilation into the field, team, and company
+ Assess MSL training needs, identify opportunities and gaps for prioritized training, and provide strategic input and training recommendations to the therapeutic training lead

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Doctorate degree & 4 years of Medical Affairs experience
**Or**
+ Master’s degree & 8 years of Medical Affairs experience
Or
+ Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of MSL experience
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered)
+ Seven years of industry experience in Scientific/Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
+ Seven or more years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Experience in a medically-related field can include post-doctoral training (i.e., residencies and/or fellowships)
+ 3 + years in a medical science liaison role in a biotech or pharmaceutical company. Current experience in Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
+ Inflammation expertise
+ Experience with designated territory

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
