Principal Network Architect

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Assesses the current IT environment and develops a future state IT architecture Builds the long-term strategic roadmap for network and infra-security architecture in line with business priorities and objectives and guides technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive targeted business outcomes.  Leads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of technologies based on enterprise business & IT strategy, requirements and enterprise standards Provides thought leadership on new technologies; drive proof-of-concepts and technical feasibility studies.   Partners with subject-matter experts to facilitate the design, optimization, standardization, and transformation of network and cybersecurity solutions. Designs high-availability, high-performing, and scalable heterogeneous network services. Partners with other solution architects to provide scalable and adaptable architectural solutions, while promoting the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve information flows. Establishes governing principles for network architecture and design.    Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise network designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes Analyzes the network environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation). Creates short and long-term storage roadmaps based on an understanding of the strategic organizational requirements and technology alternatives

Education & Experience

15+ years of relevant experience in the IT field 10+ years in Network and Cybersecurity Architecture development and management 5+ years’ project management experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, MS/MBA/Other Advanced degree is preferred

Skills

Expert level knowledge on Networking concepts, architecture, components, protocols, technologies, and methods.  Recognized as a master in the Network Architecture domain as demonstrated by advanced education and demonstrated work experience.  Expert at on-premise and cloud solutions and integration. Expert Knowledge in IT Architecture techniques including current state analysis, Architecture modeling, and roadmap development of the transition from as-is to to-be state Expert knowledge in Architecting network and infra-security technologies (including but not limited to LAN, WAN, Wireless, Infra-security, Load balancers, VPN/SASE, Cloud, micro-services Demonstrated ability to apply the technologies, methods, and techniques to develop, and deliver, effective and high-quality technical solutions aimed at achieving targeted business outcomes Global IT Leadership experience. Exposure to projects in support of global operations Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with management, IT professionals and vendors. Demonstrated skills in project planning, project management, documentation, problem- solving and work prioritization. Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities Able to identify and assess alternatives, make decisions and communicate the process and logic. Understands and balances business and technical issues in decision making Ability to deal effectively with differences of opinion, to influence, to draw ideas from others, and to negotiate and mediate Must be collaborative, facilitative, team-oriented, self-motivated and results oriented Ability to drive business culture and technology change in a dynamic environment Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups Strong consultative skills at a cross-functional level.  Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology Exposure to manufacturing environments. 

Working Conditions

Standard daylight shift work in office environment, with some time spent in data centers. Must be available to work beyond normal working hours, “on-call” 24/7 (as necessary) Willing to travel, domestic and international
