Bridgestone Americas and its subsidiaries develop, manufacture and market a wide range of Bridgestone, Firestone and associate brand products to address the needs of a broad range of customers and industries. **Job Category** Engineering & Science **Position Summary** The Principal NVH Attribute Engineer will serve as the BSAM subject matter expert in the area of NVH and own and lead all activities and the strategic roadmap as related to tire noise and vibration attribute/performance. **Responsibilities** 1. Serve as SME and technical lead of NVH engineer(s) in Attribute Engineering department and Product Development 2. Develop, maintain and supervise the execution of BSAM NVH attribute roadmaps including test methods, virtual development, new design CTQs and technologies 3. Closely work with core material science team to lead new compound CTQ development to facilitate compound tuning and selection for NVH attribute 4. Lead BSAM fundamental understanding in the areas of acoustics, vibrations, structural dynamics, human perception and human factors and ensure that the understanding and 1st principles are being used in our processes – new technology development, pattern engineering new compounds, etc., - throughout BSAM to improve our NVH performance and offer _DanTotsu_ products 5. Closely work with new Product Development team to identify opportunities to improve our processes and develop new tools to improve design and evaluation – virtual and physical. 6. Perform gap analysis and characterize the gaps in our virtual design processes and plan and execute the development of new virtual tools to support tire and vehicle NVH attribute 7. Work with 0HoQ, market insight, sales engineering, product strategy and marketing teams to characterize VoB and translate them into 1st HoQ test method and own the institutionalization of the test methods 8. Work with 0HoQ, market insight, sales engineering, product strategy and marketing teams to develop new 2nd HoQ and design CTQs and ensure the CTQs are being used throughout development to ensure delivering DT products 9. Serve as the mentor and go-to person in product development in the area of tire NVH and lead technical training sessions Minimum Qualifications: • Technical leader in the area of Acoustics and vibrations with vision and motivated to implement and initiate change • Highly motivated and open to new challenges. • Proven record of using a range of analytical and numerical tools and physical tests to solve real world problems. • Strong understanding of acoustics and vibrations first principles, coupled with robust and sound engineering knowledge and judgment • Proven track record of problem-solving, using engineering first principles to solve multidisciplinary problems and self-motivation and passionate about products and advanced engineering to tackle engineering challenges. • Background in experimental and physical NVH methods, with hands-on experience. • Proficiency in computational methods including finite element analysis, BEA, SEA, etc. • Proficient in scripting languages such as MATLAB, Python. • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders. • Experience mentoring junior engineers in NVH concepts. Note: Industry experience is preferred, although exceptionally talented recent graduates with a Ph.D. in acoustics and vibrations may also be considered. Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering specializing in acoustics, vibration, and structural dynamics. • 10+ years of experience in the automotive and aerospace industry, serving as an NVH Subject Matter Expert. • Demonstrated leadership in solving large and complex engineering problems, while collaborating with various technical and business stakeholders. • Experience with structured problem-solving methods and techniques. • Proficient in characterizing customers’ requirements and translating them into engineering specifications related to NVH attributes. • Experience in developing new physical test methods and simulations. • Proficiency in data analytics and utilizing engineering data to drive value. **Minimum Qualifications** Typically requires a minimum of 8 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent work experience _Bridgestone is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
