Principal Pilot Plant Technician

Ingredion is hiring a Principal Pilot Plant Technician to work with our Applications teams at the White Marsh Idea Labs facility. The role will be responsible for performing research and development activities related to the physical processing of food and beverages within a Pilot Plant. The Principal Pilot Plant Technician will be conducting trials in coordination with Applications and Custom Solutions team to provide new products and optimization of processes following established protocols and work plans. 
 

Core Responsibilities:

Conduct hands-on research utilizing various processing equipment within a pilot plant to develop new or existing solutions for the food and beverage market.Assist with the development of product labeling and packaging.Assist with the operation, assembly, and disassembly of pilot plant equipment.Assess equipment processes and make recommendations for improvements in areas such as affordability, quality, and/or sustainability. Understand food safety requirements and ability to perform risk assessments.  Lead equipment sanitation activities with capability to inspect following sanitation.  Understand maintenance, electrical, and controls with a technical focus.Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision regarding plant and facilities processes, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staffOther duties as assigned for the the support of the White Marsh Idea Labs

Qualified candidates will have: 

Associate's Degree/High School Diploma with 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing or food processing environment related to Pasteurization (Continuous & Batch), Homogenization, Canning, and/or retorting. Bachelor’s degree in food science, food engineering, or a related discipline with some hands on experience in a manufacturing or Pilot Plant environment also considered. Ability to perform maintenance on machinery including diagnosing and solving mechanical problems.Ability to operate a forklift.   Ability to lift, manipulate and transport ingredients or equipment, up to 55 lbs. consistently and repeatedly.  Demonstrate problem-solving skills and critical thinking.Experience with SAP, Salesforce, and Formulation Management systems.
