About the Role
Thurrock Council is at the forefront of delivering ambitious development projects and infrastructure improvements to support sustainable growth. As a Principal Planning Officer focusing on Planning Obligations and Major Infrastructure, you will play a vital role in shaping the borough's future by managing the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 (S106) agreements. You will act as a professional expert, leading a team to ensure robust and transparent decision-making while effectively administering these critical planning tools.

Key Responsibilities
Lead on the full range of CIL and S106 tasks, acting as the Council’s definitive expert in this area. Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and best practice to deliver a high-quality service. Oversee the management and monitoring of S106 agreements and the Community Infrastructure Levy. Maintain accurate systems for the collection, allocation, and reporting of S106 and CIL contributions. Prepare and update CIL charging schedules and lead the development of related guidance and policies. Monitor performance against agreed measures and prepare annual and internal reports on S106 and CIL activity. Provide robust data analysis for a range of internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate with Development Management, finance teams, and other Council departments to ensure efficient processes for collecting and allocating contributions. Support the delivery of infrastructure projects funded through S106 and CIL agreements.Why Join Us?
