Practice Overview
Private Capital is a specialized capability within the Oliver Wyman consulting business. We help our clients achieve outstanding results, both on deals and post-transaction. We serve private equity firms and their portfolio companies with a focus on delivering a differentiated return on investment across the investment cycle. We also support Corporations with mergers and acquisitions by providing value through all transaction stages: opportunity identification and valuation, project management office (PMO), negotiation support, and sale process management. Our team works across various industry sectors, including Infrastructure, Financial Services, Telco, Transportation, Consumer, Technology, Business Services, and many others.
What you will do
Principals are experts in particular content areas and provide day-to-day leadership of complex client projects and aspects of the client relationship and commercial process, working closely with Partners. They ensure on-time delivery that meets or exceeds agreed-upon goals, leveraging Oliver Wyman best practices, their own expertise, and the firm’s technical competence. They become trusted advisors to senior clients, guiding and influencing their thinking, and are viewed as experts in particular content areas.
Oliver Wyman Principals are seen as future Partners and are fully engaged in building business through identifying new and expanded opportunities. They create exciting and valuable intellectual capital through thought leadership and are knowledgeable on a broad range of adjacent topics. Principals develop others and build a strong personal brand both within and outside the firm.
Collaborating on the execution of individual project modules, including developing hypotheses, managing data collection, model creation and analyses, conducting primary and secondary research, creatively tackling information limitations, and surfacing insights.
Supporting our Partner group in project delivery through accurate and high-quality case execution.
Building and nurturing executive client relationships, presenting to a wide range of audiences, and working day-to-day with clients and other stakeholders.
Managing and developing the capabilities of junior consulting staff.
What you will bring
A minimum of 8-12 years of relevant M&A or private capital experience in a large international company or within strategic consulting or professional services.
Experience in guiding and supporting teams or work streams to achieve goals within set timelines.
Strong background in strategic problem-solving with demonstrable analytical skills.
Strong communication skills and comfort in sharing ideas with senior executives
Undergraduate and/or advanced degree from a top academic program.
Willingness to travel, when required.
Native level Japanese, business-fluent English.
