Job Title: Principal Engineer, Process Design
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Overview
We are looking for a Principal Engineer, Process Design to join our innovative team. This is an onsite position in Brooklyn, NY. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will provide technical leadership in engineering flowsheet development, process synthesis, and design. The primary focus will be on selecting multi-scale separation technologies for our pilot, demonstration, and commercial plants. This position is part of our RD&E department and involves close collaboration with scientists, engineers, and the operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and lead the development and design of downstream separation technologies for chemical and fuel product recovery.Conduct process synthesis, simulation, scale-up design, equipment selection, and economic analysis for downstream separation applications based on carbon dioxide conversion technologies.Collaborate with R&D scientists and engineers to support the development of new separation technologies.Work closely with the in-house engineering team to manage the development of full engineering packages and EPCs for front-end engineering activities.Analyze data and present findings and recommendations through oral presentations and written reports.Manage projects to ensure they are completed within budget, on time, and meet quality and safety standards.Ensure adherence to engineering design standards and compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering.At least 15 years of industrial experience as a process unit engineer, process design engineer, or separations process development engineer in industries such as petroleum refining, petrochemical processing, chemical processing, renewable energy, or bio-energy.Proficiency in process simulation modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).Experience in creating commercial-scale PFDs and P&IDs and knowledge of industrial standards (e.g., ISO, ISA, DIN, PIP, ANSI).Familiarity with yield estimates development, FEL studies, and FEED studies.Experience in the detailed design, development, and selection of equipment.Strong understanding of process economics.Commitment to personal and process safety protocols.Ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and independently, with a willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.Team player with a passion for fostering a safe and collaborative work environment.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD.Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).Experience as a process engineer in a technology development or EPC company.Operational experience in large-scale production plants.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00
