Principal Product Designer, Data & Insights (D&I)

We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our highly collaborative and motivated design team and specifically own/drive the evolution of our Data & Insights products. You will partner closely with the Product Management and Engineering leaders and play a key role in defining and shaping a holistic experience across Instructure’s product platform. You will also contribute to the evolution of our design team as well as mentor other designers.
What you will be doing:Partner closely with the D&I Product and Engineering leaders to set the overall strategy for how actionable insights are woven throughout our end-to-end platform experience (for Admins, Teachers, and Students)Leverage AI and other emerging technologies to create innovative and intuitive product design experiences (more than just dashboards and tables) that lead to measurable outcomesOversee a small but mighty team of designers that focuses on the D&I product space; provide feedback and direction to ensure high quality work as well as professional growth coachingPartner closely with your fellow design leaders to establish operational structures and best practices across our entire Product Design teamDesign and build solutions leveraging our InstUI Design SystemBe an advocate for and follow A11y best practices alwaysWork with a rapid, iterative mindset, being open and flexible to changes based on user feedbackCreate prototypes and corresponding scripts for user testingMake data-informed decisions based on user research, testing, and other analytics
You will be/have:At least 10 years of experience designing for digital productsPrevious experience collaborating strategically with Product and Engineering to define a product roadmapPrevious experience mentoring or managing other team membersA portfolio representing your strong design work (visual and UX) on complex digital products (must include significant data visualization)Previous deep experience working on complex analytics and/or reporting initiativesVery strong storytelling skills; experience presenting to executive and senior leadershipStrong problem solving skillsStrong communication skills, verbal and writtenStrong work ethic, sense of accountability and ownershipStrong attention to detail and a systematic thinkerDeep knowledge and experience designing for A11y best practicesGreat team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environmentBiased to action, with the ability to iterate rapidlyPrototyping experience (Figma)Experience with responsive web designPrevious experience in the EdTech space is a bonus
