Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a proven Principal Project Engineer to lead the modernization of our VLF communications capabilities. In this multi-faceted role you will help shape the business strategy, lead integrated product teams, oversee the execution of technical trade studies, and make recommendations to program and site leadership. You should be an established leader that can leverage proven experience leading cross functional teams. Leading a long-term modernization and production effort for a key customer, your ability to develop system architectures and translate technical concepts to sustainable products will be key. What You Will Do: 

Lead a seasoned team of Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, and Specialty Engineers in support of VLF communications development efforts 

Provide technical leadership to proposal and business development efforts establishing technical, schedule, and cost baselines for additional follow-on business 

Plan, participate-in, and oversee production efforts with local and remote manufacturing and operations teams 

Plan, participate-in, and oversee hardware and software integration efforts at customer sites to include deployment, validation, and verification against requirements 

Travel Requirements:  Ability to travel 25% 

Qualifications You Must Have: 

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 

Active and transferable U.S. Government issued security clearance is required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance  

Experience with hardware & software design life cycle experience to include DoD airborne platform integration 

Proven experience and understanding of Aerospace engineering design and analysis review/release process 

Demonstrated experience leading cross functional project teams and managing performance against tight budget and schedule requirements  

Qualifications We Prefer: 

Experience with both agile and waterfall hardware & software design and development 

Demonstrated leadership and success in the design and test of integrated systems 

Experience navigating competing priorities, delivering the highest level of engagement and delivering successful outcomes in critical situations 

Prior Control Account Manager (CAM) or Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
