MITRE’s Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Program Division seeks a MITRE staff member with a passion for radar systems engineering. MITRE N262 MDA Sensors and C4ISR Department provides technical expertise to MITRE’s MDA Program across the Ground Sensors domains.
As a highly experienced electrical engineer, you will apply engineering principles and expertise to bring technical solutions to bear on the government’s toughest challenges in the acquisition, design, testing, integration, verification, and fielding of ground radar capabilities. This position will work within a Radar program office and help as part of an integrated product team lead broad strategic technical roadmaps for ground based missile defense radar development.
The job is a Principal Step, Huntsville, AL-based position; this work location is on-site and required to effectively foster staff and government relationships and shape the direct work program.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead technical radar systems, software, and hardware development and capability updates, as a Radar product office Technical Advisor throughout the MDA integrated product teams and with external stakeholders, across multiple end users across DoDProactively identify, develop, and recommend technical sensors strategies, concepts, and resolutions that consider risk, extensibility, and affordability in a complex problem set with lasting impact to multiple sponsor mission lines of effort.Develop and implement plans for prototyping and assessing future radar concepts and capability developmentWork with Systems Engineers to develop functional, performance and interoperability requirements for radar capabilities added to operational baselinesAssess performance of radar systems, software, and hardware engineering studies to inform executive program management decisionsSecure resources to impact sponsors long term operational, program, or services outcomesInform government acquisition with technical priorities, courses of action, and recommendations.Create complex innovative technical perspectives on existing knowledge and expertise and shares that knowledge with others, providing training and mentoring to team members, fostering a culture of continuous awareness and improvement.Have willingness to work within a government integrated product team environment partnering technical outcomes across multiple stakeholders and organizations, communicating complex ideas, anticipating potential objections and roadblocks, and persuades others to adopt new points of view on broader organizational programs
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or similar technical degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. This position requires ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.8+ years of experience in applying expert experience level to developing and evolving sensors or radar technical capabilities and defense programs through the practical application of physics-based engineering, technical assessment, and/or systems engineering best practicesExcellent written and verbal communications skills.Active Secret ClearanceThis position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.Preferred Qualifications:
