Principal Radar/RF Systems Engineer

Responsibilities The V2X Mobile Sensors program performs Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for a ship based marine mobile platform with complex multi-mission radar and communication systems which have a sophisticated command & control computing structure, along with communication interfaces and support sub-systems. These systems and the program assigned employees, which include represented members (union), are tasked to primarily operate in the Pacific Command's (PACOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR). Our program ensures the COBRA KING (CK) radar and communication systems are ready for operation 24-hours a day for 7-days a week and can support mission operations on very short notice. The Mobile Sensors Management Office (MSMO) is seeking a Principal Radar / RF Systems Engineer to lead the engineering team in performance of the day-to-day program execution, with associated activities involving USNS Howard O. Lorenzen radar support, and other projects assigned to the benefit of the MSMO. This role will primarily work at the program office located on Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB), FL facilitating collaboration with Key Subcontractors, the Customer Team, Program and Functional Support team members, and is a direct report to the Mobile Sensors Program Manager. This position requires some travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations for an estimated annual rate of 15%. Qualifications Job Responsibilities: Lead all engineering activities that support the Technical Baseline. Support alignment of business technical roadmaps with customer’s requirements. Develop and maintain a Lead Engineer succession plan, mentors potential successors and junior program engineers. Provide oversight and review all program metrics for engineering, ensuring application of Technical Performance across the program as a means for measuring technical progress and assessing risk. Oversee and manage engineering Risks and Opportunities across the program, leveraging the resources to mitigate key risks and capture opportunities. Schedule and lead Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and engineering symposiums to mitigate program risk and provide recommendations on hardware and software systems upgrades. Lead system sustainment and configuration change activities and requirements. Ensure effective engineering management of suppliers in accordance with subcontractor statement of work, requirements specifications, and engineering processes. Develop supplier sole source justifications, technical evaluations of proposals, and support supply chain’s pricing analysis. Identify and exploit synergies across program and organization. Support configuration control efforts & plans and lead the configuration Control Working Group (CCWG) process. Provide accurate and timely status reports to the Program and/or Customer Team. Understand company policies & procedures with emphasis on Naval communication equipment/requirements and front-line leadership. Assist the MSMO hiring team with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding qualified and experienced personnel to meet program performance objectives. Provide basis of estimate for engineering and assist the MSMO with contract proposals. Other duties as assigned within the MSMO. Job Qualifications: Active Secret clearance or higher required. Working knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines with a strong focus RF systems, hardware, and software development. Minimum of 10 years of leadership and mentoring experience with proven results. Experience and understanding of team leadership, program staffing, EVMS, risk management, subcontract management, and quality controls (process tailoring, audit, etc.) Must be proactive in the mitigation of system challenges and issues. Advanced communication, writing, and presentation skills. Demonstrated involvement in continuous process improvement efforts. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experienced with DoD development process. Experienced with Microsoft Office suite of tools. Maintain knowledge and expertise on company policies & procedures with emphasis on Naval communication equipment/requirements and front-line leadership. Current U.S. Passport with a minimum of 1 year prior to expiration and 3 blank pages When required, must be willing and able to be deployed onboard a naval vessel, in the role of Radar Engineer; not to exceed 60 days at sea. Able to pass a mariner’s physical exam on an in accordance with our PWS if required by the Program Office.
