About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 10 The Role: Analyst, China Oil Market The Location: BeijingShanghai The Team: This role is part of China Analytics Team under S&P Global Commodity Insights, covering the downstream oil industry chain. This position is based in Beijing or Shanghai and will closely collaborate with teams in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, and internationally. The Impact: This position is focused on oil demand analysis in the Greater China region, and the responsibilities include data analysis, market research, economic modeling, report writing, and client interaction. Analyze oil demand developments through modeling and combine with non-quantitative drivers to create critical insights on policy direction, market and technological dynamics, company strategies, and the future development of China oil market. Lead data mining activities, create and update various databases and models used for research activities. Deliver insights through written reports and presentations at company and industry events. Act as a core member of broader Asia oil market research team. Connect with global teams to share knowledge and exchange best practices. What We’re Looking For: Qualifications: A highly motivated and personable individual who is dynamic, articulate, well-rounded, critical thinker with the resourcefulness and qualitative skills that will allow them to execute effectively on tasks. At least 10 yrs of relevant work experience with oil refineries, oil analytics consultancies, oil trading houses, refining and petrochemical EPC companies or multi-national oil companies. This position typically requires at least a Master's degree in related fields, with flexibility for exceptional candidates. Good knowledge of econometrics and statistical modeling. Excellent Excel skills and proficiency with other MS applications required (Word and Powerpoint). Proficiency in programming languages like R or Python is a significant advantage. Detail oriented; able to multi-task; strong organizational skill. Possess professional integrity and willingness/desire to cultivate open mindset and team work culture.
