Principal Research Analyst (Chlor-Alkali Markets)

**About the Role:**
As a Principal Analyst, you will provide primary research and ongoing analysis for Mexico & other LATAM markets and support the US & Canadian research team. Your research will include producer capacities, supply/demand balance information, trade balances, pricing, production costs, individual company analysis, market analysis, consumption analysis and associated econometric modeling. Products covered may include: caustic soda, chlorine, chlor-alkali derivatives including hydrochloric acid, potassium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite bleach, vinyls/PVC and others. You will report to the Global Chlor-alkali Market Advisory Service Leader.

**You Will:**
+ Convert previous chemical industry experience, knowledge & expertise, analysis, and insights into sustainable, profitable market advisory services
+ Provide regular neutral & objective price input and written analysis for Market Advisory Service reports
+ Pursue and develop unique analytical approaches that provide value to CMA clients and potential clients
+ Develop and maintain a fundamental working understanding of CMA basic model templates of supply/demand, econometric price forecasts, and trade grids
+ Develop market presentations and contribute market expertise to proprietary projects
+ Interface with global Market Advisory Services team members to ensure analysis consistency
+ Build and nourish personal relationships with key industry contacts in the geographic coverage regions that manufacture, consume, distribute or otherwise have financial interest in the chemicals assigned for analysis
+ Respond to internal & external client questions and serve as a resource for client brainstorming/discussions
+ Pursue opportunities to present information and market CMA capabilities in face-to-face client industry contact meetings and at conferences
+ Identify new business opportunities for sales and consulting follow-up
+ Support sales and consulting as needed to secure new client subscriptions and renewals
**You Have:**
+ At least 7 years' chemical industry experience which includes but is not limited to commercial experience with the chlor-alkali, electrolytic chemicals, alumina/aluminum, or pulp & paper industries
+ University degree in chemical engineering, engineering, or chemistry degree (preferred) -OR- equivalent work experience
+ Fluent in English - oral and written (writing sample submissions will be requested)
+ Strong modelling and advanced Excel spreadsheet management skills
+ Interest in proactively expanding knowledge in other chemical areas to identify and advance new product opportunities for the Inorganics group
+ Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
+ MBA or other graduate degree (preferred)
+ Spanish language fluency (preferred)
