**A Snapshot of Your Day** As the Principal Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Scientist in our Grid Technologies AI Lab, you’ll lead cutting edge research that makes our vision of an autonomous power grid possible. In this role, you’ll combine your experience in cutting-edge AI research for power systems with our next generation hardware and global power system expertise and data to push the envelope of what is possible in the power system of the future. In the morning, you meet with thermal engineers about the physics of a transformer you will model. In the afternoon, you and your team run model training experiments on cutting edge hardware, logging your research results. Later, you meet with domain experts again to get more information that you can use to improve the model. Passionate about the environment and climate change? Our team is looking for innovative, enthusiastic, and versatile data, digital, and AI professionals that will drive us forward on this exciting venture. **How You’ll Make an Impact** + Craft research questions to push AI boundaries in power systems. + Conduct cutting-edge research in physics-informed AI, Graph Neural Networks, and Large Foundation Models for power grid tasks. + Develop and implement novel algorithms and models using fine-tuning, federated learning, and knowledge distillation. + Collaborate with research teams and external partners to drive innovation. + Publish findings in top-tier conferences and journals, and present at industry events. + Provide technical guidance and mentorship, staying up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies. **What You Bring** + Master’s Degree or PhD (preferred) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Simulation Science, or a related field. + 3 or more years of experience in AI research, with a focus on novel AI techniques. *Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa. + Preferred experience in high-maturity technical organizations and power systems, with a strong track record of published research and conference presentations (like Neurips, ICLR, AAAI, ICML, Sigraph, etc.); GitHub profile and OSS contributions preferred. + Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and experience with AI4Physics, AI4Simulation, CUDA/Triton, multi-node GPU training, and optimizing ML (Machine Learning) workflows on GPUs (graphics processing units). + Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with curiosity and resilience in tackling hard research challenges; experience mentoring junior team members. + Willing and able to travel 25-50% (to offices in Orlando, if not local, and as needed for business). **About the Team** At Siemens Energy, we are more than just an energy technology company.
