Principal Scheduler

About the role:

The Principal Scheduler is responsible for creating and managing Pearson’s end-to-end project schedules for multiple projects/programs across School Assessment. They ensure the schedules accurately reflect scope for all internal and customer deliverables. Schedulers will monitor and enforce that tasks are completed on-time, to meet both internal and customer deadlines. 

Travel/In-office Requirements: <10%

Responsibilities:

Serve as a primary point of contact to establish schedules that align to scope, process, resources, and both internal and customer deadlines.  Collaborate, internally, to establish schedules that allow functional teams to allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs. Work with functional project management teams and portfolio project management teams to monitor schedule progress weekly.  Ensure that schedule best practices and procedures are being followed consistently across all project schedules.  Negotiate across functional departments, as needed, to keep project schedules on the critical path.  Contribute to process and design enhancements that can result in more efficient scheduling across School Assessment.  Identify and help manage risks and incidents related to schedule. Facilitate project-specific Post Project Review process.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience. 3-5 years of project management experience required. Scheduling experience is preferred. Experience working with external clients and multiple stakeholders. Experience analyzing data, following processes and procedures, and collaborating with others.

 

Skills:

You are a creative problem-solver, willing to think outside-the-box.  You are a strong leader who is comfortable facilitating large meetings and negotiating across teams. You have proven strong time-management and organizational skills across multiple priorities and/or programs. You are a process-driven individual with a desire to embrace change and lead new process improvements. A strong background with Smartsheet and JIRA is highly preferred. A background in assessment is preferred. You are a self-motivated learner with a willingness to learn new and existing offerings across Pearson School Assessment. You have outstanding project/program management skills. You have positive relationship building and business partnership skills; you collaborate well with project team members for the lifecycle of the project.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $70,000 - $75,000.
