DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a Principal Sector Leader who will be responsible for leading the strategy for growth and success in the marketing and delivery of full-service A&E services for the Data Center market. Specifically, our priority is to grow our MEP, Structural, Fire Protection Engineering services as well as Cybersecurity consulting services. The company continues to win contracts and expand its coverage in Federal, Aviation, Transit and other public sector projects with a strategy to grow the business in private sector markets to include Corporate, Industrial, Manufacturing, Lifesciences, etc. The individual hired into this role will lead our strategy for a multibillion-dollar industry that is growing exponentially in the U.S. and overseas. Data Centers are an aggressive growth market for Michael Baker involving exciting, collaborative work across SRS and our Infrastructure business.

This position requires close partnership and coordination with our marketing and business development team as well as affiliate companies to pursue opportunities and leverage existing clients and markets. The individual in this role will develop and drive the implementation of the strategic business development plans to expand the SRS practice in the Data Center sector, including identifying and pursuing new market opportunities as well as expanding existing client and industry partner relationships. The role will also be responsible for driving our overall business strategy and working closely with our Architecture and Engineering leaders as well as other subject matter experts.  

Essential Responsibilities:  

Provides strategic leadership to the operations and functional teams supporting the specific sectors, ensuring alignment with company objectives. This is a seller doer role with 25% target utilization on projects as Principal-In-charge.  Focuses on new business development and cultivating new and existing client relationships. Maximize Michael Baker’s industry exposure and capabilities in this sector, including expanding relationships with clients and industry partners while embracing emerging technologies and innovations. Grows new clients and diversify our services, drive business development strategy with the local and regional BD team to broaden the capabilities of the office/region and grow the business. Actively engage in business development strategy with project managers, subject matter experts, market and practice Leads, operations, and regional directors. Assist and/or lead the strategy and messaging for targeted pursuits, including all elements to craft winning proposals. Assist with the development of gap analyses, competitive assessments, discriminators and key win themes, and overall win strategy/value proposition. Participate in the development and execution of capture plans with the objective of increasing the win probability of targeted pursuits. Participate in Go/No-Go evaluations. Understand company and partner capabilities and limitations; assemble strategic teams and partnerships when desired; learn from industry leaders and review publications. Assist with external teaming arrangements and partnerships to include identifying, selecting, and recruiting consultant partners and subconsultants. Leverage capabilities of and coordinate pursuits and work with sister and affiliate Michael Baker companies to grow revenue and client relationships across the portfolio of companies. Accountable for metrics including, but not limited to:  Revenue and Contribution Profit Net New Work Added and Backlog Headcount, Utilization and Factor metrics for the sector Mentor and motivate staff on performance feedback, high level technical guidance, financial management, and client relations. Identify and develop emerging talent and leadership to create upward opportunity and succession planning.

 PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

15 years related experience in Architecture, Engineering or related leadership roles in the Data Center market.  Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business, or related field required.  Proven experience in A&E services and project management. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team. Excellent communications and negotiation abilities. Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices. Proper license or certificate strongly preferred. 

 COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position $175,000 - $275,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.   

The role is eligible for performance bonus commensurate with performance and metrics established upon joining Michael Baker.
