Principal Security Engineer II

You can do that. Ready to work closely with network engineering and technical operations staff on the operations and service delivery? As a Principal Security Engineer II at Spectrum, you can do that.

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

You continue to evaluate security operational strategies and develop requirements for new operational counter-measures and their deployment. You serve as the information security expert for Charter and will represent Charter on governmental committees and conferences. You lead the overall incident response process for network security operations and communicate event status to executive leadership.


WHAT OUR NETWORK ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST

Design and implement processes and controls that acquire and correlate security relevant system and application log data to alert and report on potential security events.Lead the execution of security counter-measures.Develop security standards for Charter and industry related standards bodies and organizations.Design and implement an effective vulnerability management infrastructure and processes to ensure that Charter’s network is securely configured and appropriately protected.Develop and implement system logic to detect security threats.Coordinates Charter’s incident response process for cyber incidents.Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements based on security requirements.Mentors and guides the work of senior technical security staff.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

Experience: Seven or more years of information security operations experience. Ten or more years of IT/network experience.Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.Technical Skills: Advanced expert knowledge of network and system security vulnerabilities and exploits. Understanding of what is required to prevent security exploits, how to detect security attacks and anomalies, reverse engineering and how to respond to security incidents and intrusions. Advanced knowledge of NIST, CSRIC, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, DNS, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols. Knowledge of network security design, network security architecture, and TCP/IP protocols.Skills: English communication skills and strong presentation skills.Abilities: Ability to solve problems, balance competing priorities and manage through complexity and rapid change.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with Intrusion Detection Systems and router engineering.Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and log management tools.Experience with computer forensics tools, such as Encase or FTK.Experience with Security Risk Assessments.Relevant certifications such as CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH), SANS Global Information Assurance Certification, such as GCIH, GCIA, GPEN, GCED, and Certified Forensics Examiner (CFE)
