As a security firmware developer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and resilience of Micron SSDs. Your responsibilities will include:

Design and create firmware for Micron SSDs with a strong focus on security. Ensure that the firmware can detect, prevent, and respond to cyberattacks effectively.Design and implement cryptography-based security features related to data encryption, Self-Encrypting Drives (SED), Secure Boot, Device Attestation, and other cryptographic protocols.Contribute to firmware development at different stages of the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL): design, thread analysis, implementation, validation, vulnerability testing, certification and audit, etc.Create and maintain a simulation environment for Unit Testing and Fuzz Testing of the SSD security components.Debug and optimize firmware on SoC platforms, participate in the bring-up of FPGA/ASIC systems, ensuring that security features are functional.Investigate and resolve compatibility issues related to security protocols.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security features seamlessly into the SSD data and control flows.

How to Qualify

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related fieldsWorking knowledge of software/firmware engineering principlesProficiency in designing and developing Firmware using C/C++ programming languageExtensive experience in Firmware code review, test and validation methodologies, static and dynamic code analysisUnderstanding of Agile software development process, secure coding and TDD


What Sets You Apart

Hands-on experience in the development of device system Firmware including controller initialization, Firmware boot and update process, device drivers, RTOS, IPC, internal storage managementKnowledge of storage security protocols: TCG Opal/Ruby/Pyrite, IEEE 1667, SPDM, PCIE IDETechnical expertise in applied cryptography and firmware/hardware security: data encryption, trusted execution environment, root of trust, secure boot, device attestation, key management, PKI, etc.Experience with Firmware integration of PQC algorithmsExperience with FIPS 140-3 device security certificationKnowledge of Python or other scripting languages

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$153,000.00 - $260,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
