About this career opportunity
We are seeking an energetic and passionate Senior / Principal environmental consultant to work within our environmental assessment and management team, delivering and managing projects and helping to grow our environment consulting business. You will work within our Climate and Sustainability Services group based in Birmingham City Centre. You will manage and deliver environmental assessments for projects at all stages and across sectors, focusing on national energy infrastructure. Clients include private developers, public sector authorities and other organizations, from single sites to large linear infrastructure. You will be working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with other environmental, planning, engineering, and sustainability specialists, and will steer environmental disciplines (both internal and external to Arup) to deliver high quality environmental consultancy services. You will undertake technical work as well as assist with proposal preparation and marketing activities. Delivering environmental impact assessments – this will involve managing the assessment process and technical teams and reviewing all technical inputs. Undertaking environment discipline roles at all stages of infrastructure project delivery through feasibility, design, consent, and construction management. Ability to manage and direct more junior staff.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people with:
· Education to degree level, preferably a Master’s degree, in a related topic.
· Member of an appropriate professional body – this could include the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent. Chartered Environmentalist status is advantageous.
· Specific knowledge in linear infrastructure projects is advantageous, including having delivered projects through the governance processes associated with these. National Grid knowledge an Advantage as well as UK Sector Knowledge.
· Professional environmental consultancy focused on working within environmental impact assessment and the delivery of infrastructure projects. Knowledge of the UK energy sector would be beneficial.
· Working within a commercial consulting environment, including client liaison, programme and time management, quality assurance and financial / budget control.
