Our facility in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Systems Engineer to support one of our major programs within the Deployables Operating Unit.
This position may be filled as either a Principal (level 3), or a Senior Principal (level 4) Engineer.

Overview:
The Systems Engineer will be part of the Mission Enabling Products Business Unit Systems Engineering Organization and serve on the OneSat Program team. Programmatically reporting to the Power Assembly Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for all technical aspects of the SolAero subassembly for Solar Power Modules. Performs System technical planning, requirements and interface management, performance analysis/trades, system integration, verification and validation, and risk management. Systems Engineering activities encompass the entire product life cycle and are performed within program technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The key attribute of the Systems Engineering role is to exhibit dynamic range, to be able to lead a team as well as perform as an individual contributor executing specific program tasks.
The Systems Engineer may also support other operating units with subsystems such as optics, thermal, structures, propulsion, power management and control, and lasers. Work is performed at all levels of total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, in-orbit deployment, and operation. The successful candidate will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The Systems Engineer will also perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, change management, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware specifications along with reviewing and overseeing design tailoring to meet specification requirements. The successful candidate will be able to communicate the required inputs and resulting outputs along with the associated context to team members, individual contributors, program management senior leadership and the customer.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all Technical aspects of the SolAero subcontract for Solar Power Modules
Ownership for acceptance of performance and verification buyoff of delivered hardware
Collaboration with the Subcontracts Administrator for the SolAero subcontract to oversee contractual execution
Collaboration with the Subcontract Quality Engineer for the SolAero subcontract to ensure delivered quality
Develop integration, test, verification and validation plans
Coordinate/conduct System performance analysis
Supports/executes modeling and simulation activities
Develops and maintains product technical baseline
Gate review technical lead (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
Interface with customers, peers, management, and other organizations (ie PMO, manufacturing, quality, outside suppliers)
Works with Program Managers, IPT Leads, and other technical personnel to customer technical inquiries
Lead problem investigator
Travel to customer and supplier sites as required
Learn existing business related technologies, keep up to date with new emerging technologies for integration into product portfolio
Risk and opportunity management
Basic Qualifications for a Principal (level 3):
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and 5+ years’ related experience; OR 3+ years with a master’s degree
Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering
Experience executing systems engineering tasks such as System requirements management, integration, test, and verification
Participating in program reviews
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, managers, manufacturing, quality, and peers
Problem prevention and troubleshooting skills, root cause/corrective action experience
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
US Citizenship is required
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal (level 4):
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and 9+ years’ related experience; OR 7+ years with a master’s degree
Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering
Experience executing systems engineering tasks such as System requirements management, integration, test, and verification
Preparing and executing detailed program reviews
Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, managers, manufacturing, quality, and peers
Problem prevention and troubleshooting skills, root cause/corrective action experience
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Experience in Aerospace/Defense product development and manufacturing
Demonstrated leadership
Use of first-order mathematical modeling and simulations to assess feasibility, compare technologies and validate experimental results
Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
