This position provides technical, hands-on support for Collins Aerospace ground and airborne communications, navigations, sensor, displays, and integrated application test equipment for commercial and government/military related programs or projects. This person would drive improvements based on various analyses. Perform corrective actions for technical issues at the Atlanta Service Center, perform special investigations, and product testing. Other duties might include formal/informal training and/or support and installation of test equipment products within the Collins Aerospace standards and the guidelines of various governmental regulations and requirements. This position is primarily in support of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS) test equipment and Customer Return Goods. Successful candidates will have experience working in an avionics repair or manufacturing environment with the ability to work with a diverse team of technicians, engineers, program management, and business development.

This position is located at the Collins Aerospace Atlanta Service Center in Atlanta, GA.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Develops, implements and maintains test procedures and processes in the manufacture and test of sub-assembly, module, and top-level product for HMDS product lines.

Maintains test documentation in current configuration and oversees accurate change management procedures for all test documents. Resolves conflicts in documentation and process definition.

Evaluates Customer Returned Good (CRG) activity to repair and return units in the most efficient manner. Uses analysis of CRG failure data to identify proactive methods of preventing future failures. 

Provides capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs. Identifies new test approaches that will reduce staffing and capital requirements.

Studies test equipment performance, reliability, and establishes programs and solutions for decreasing equipment downtime. Feeds back the analysis to improve design of next generation test equipment.

Provides technical interpretation of drawings and specifications for difficult products.  

Receives little instruction on assigned tasks. Works independently. Follows established processes but understands when occasional deviations are required. Deviations are coordinated with direct supervision.  

Failure to achieve results will have a significant impact on product quality or delivery schedules. 

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Must have a background in electronic engineering and/or hardware troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

Experience interpreting drawings.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
