The Kohane Lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the Harvard Medical School is funded to develop primary care applications to augment healthcare personnel, particularly pediatric primary care. The ultimate goal of this effort is to develop and deliver open source packages that have been evaluated to perform at an acceptable level so that they can undergo clinical evaluations in clinical use in pediatric primary care; You will play an integral role in defining architecture, API’s including API’s to LLM’s, software stack, implementation and evaluation strategies, identifying component tasks that can be handed to students, and performing much of the implementation of the pilot version of the program that assists clinicians. Responsibilities include: + Participate fully in the software development life cycle, including leading the design of the architecture of the Primary Care AI assistant including interfaces to users and to utility API’s including those of several leading frontier AI modes. + Lead the implementation of our software products, research and design the workflow components and acquire knowledge-bases required for the execution of the Primary Care AI assistant on multiple data sources, starting with the PPOC data store. + Identify opportunities to build upon existing AI initiatives and recent agentic solutions. + Lead creation and maturing of software development best practices and new technologies. + Lead technical meetings in direct representation of the PI, draw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to the PPOC, cloud hosting companies, collaborators, and manage graduate students on discrete subprojects. + Play a lead role in onboarding and training new software developers.
