We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Front-End Engineer with a passion for building exceptional user experiences and a knack for back-end integration. As a key member of our Core Product Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Yahoo Finance's web presence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, high-performance solutions that delight our users.
Responsibilities
Develop and Maintain Web Applications: Design, implement, and optimize responsive and user-friendly interfaces using HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
Full-Stack Collaboration: Work closely with back-end engineers to integrate APIs and enhance the overall functionality of our platform.
Architectural Design: Lead the architectural decisions of the Core Product Platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Code Quality and Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best practices in code structure, design patterns, and testing to maintain high code quality standards.
Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and lead by example to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and enhance the performance of web applications to ensure fast load times and a seamless user experience.
Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
10+ years of professional experience in software development.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.
Extensive experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Svelte.
Familiarity with full-stack frameworks like Next.js, Nuxt.js, or SvelteKit.
Experience consuming RESTful, GraphQL, or equivalent APIs for user facing applications.
Solid understanding of software development design patterns and best practices
Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques for large-scale web applications.
Basic understanding of user experience principles and ability to collaborate with design teams effectively.
Experience with back-end development is a plus.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
