Job Description
The software team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer who is technically savvy and is excited about working within a SoC development team to produce customer facing software to enable our customers. This position involves a wide range of challenges from interfacing with IC and firmware designers to working with marketing to present the IC products in intuitive ways. As part of one of Renesas’s fastest growing product lines, you will have the opportunity to directly impact customer experience through work on software products that enable feature rich hardware to shine. Essential Functions:
Design, develop, test, and maintain software that meets the needs of both customers and internal teamsGather and drive clarity on software requirements from diverse groups including customers, application engineers, hardware, and firmware engineersContribute to both existing and new projects, covering a broad range of languages and scope. We use Java, Kotlin and PythonCollaborate with applications and systems engineers to troubleshoot systems failures and propose software remediesParticipate in code reviews for fellow team membersQualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering15+ years of software development experience covering breadth and depth Technical expertise in Java programming language with strong preference for those with Kotlin knowledgeExperience with JavaFX or GUI development very strongly preferred including exposure to JavaScript or TypeScriptAbility to investigate and apply new technologies to enhance the developer experienceExecutes creative software solutions, design, development and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsStrong understanding of Software Architecture and Design principles, Behavior-Driven Development and unit testingMust have highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skillsUnderstanding of DevOps including JIRA, Confluence and GitLab preferredExperience with basic electronics, microcontroller programming and bus communications strongly preferred
