About the role:
UKG is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with full stack experience with special focus on delivering user experience projects. The Principal Software Engineer should be striving for near perfect reliability, stability, and performance of any deliverable. Customer success is our number one goal, and we make sure to provide that with every decision.

In this role, you will spearhead the strategic development and implementation of innovative solutions that will enhance the frontend platform and drive unified delightful experience across the suite. They will be responsible for developing strategies and driving complex projects with very minimal to no guidance while anticipating issues, recognizing risks, considering alternatives, and supporting long range goals. This person will influence across levels and preparing the technical content that the team will use to execute and deliver on initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop a deep understanding of our user journey and their evolving needs, ensuring our solutions address pain points and deliver exceptional web experiences.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of AI-powered capabilities with our customer-facing services.
• Strive to reduce complex architecture and designs to clean and simple solutions
• Communicate and influence team members as well as leadership to overcome obstacles and meet team goals
• Anticipate significant business issues and changes to support long range goals and objectives while continuously considering alternative solutions
• Work with other teams and team members to evaluate frameworks, services and applications that support our deployment goals
• Provide leadership, troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues that are escalated to the engineering team.
Understand CI/CD pipelines from build, test, to deploy phases.

 

About you:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior technical leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale, complex UI projects.
• Deep expertise in UI technologies, architectures, and applications.
• Extensive experience in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, and the ability to drive organizational change.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and people management skills.
• Passion for fostering a culture of innovation and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience in developing and deploying large scale complex UI solutions in a production environment.
• Experience in a complex, matrixed organization with a global footprint.

The pay range for this position is $137,900 to $198,250, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
