We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Data Platform Services organization within Intune, to build cloud services that operate at high scale and availability, with opportunities for technical leadership. As a senior member of our team, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of highly scalable and reliable software components, drive technical strategy, and mentor engineers.
**Responsibilities**
**Technical Leadership:**
+ Lead technical design and architecture discussions for Data Platform Services
+ Drive technical roadmap and vision for Data Platform Services, aligning with Intune's overall strategy
+ Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize project backlogs
**Software Development:**
+ Design, develop, and deploy distributed systems software components in Data Platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance
+ Write high-quality, maintainable code, and review contributions from engineers
**Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:**
+ Mentor engineers, providing guidance and oversight on complex projects
+ Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring knowledge sharing and best practices
**Innovation and R&D:**
+ Explore emerging technologies and trends, assessing their impact on our distributed systems and services
+ Drive proof-of-concept projects, demonstrating innovative solutions and technical expertise
**Collaboration and Communication:**
+ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations
+ Communicate technical vision and roadmap to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications** :
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 5+ years of experience distributed systems, design principles, scalability patterns, and high-availability architectures
+ 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms including but not limited to Azure, AWS, GCP
+ 5+ years of experience debugging software and performance optimization

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
+ This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
