Microsoft Store is hiring a **Principal Software Engineering Manager** to help drive Microsoft’s broader mission to empower individuals and organizations to achieve more through technology. As a **Principal Software Engineering Manager** , you will lead the Microsoft Store on Windows app team within the Windows + Devices organization in Redmond. In this role, you will drive AI-powered innovation, oversee client infrastructure and feature flighting, and elevate the Store’s user experience (UX). Your leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Microsoft Store, delivering seamless, high-quality experiences to users worldwide. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development. + Oversee the design, development, and deployment of client-side features, infrastructure, and AI-powered features. + Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, designers, service engineers, data engineers, and business teams to deliver impactful solutions. + Champion engineering best practices, improving performance, security, and scalability. + Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion. + Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and customer obsession within the team. + Enhance the Microsoft Store UX, ensuring a smooth, engaging, and intuitive experience. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, XAML, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + Experience solving complex technical challenges and building full-stack solutions. + Experience successfully designing, building, and delivering great products. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 4+ years people management experience. + Experience with the Microsoft Store ecosystem and related technologies. + Expertise in native Windows development (WPF, UWP, or WinUI). Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
