L53A, the Software Wellness Innovation, Facilitation, and Technology Department in the Software Engineering Innovation Center is seeking a thought leader support, shape, and grow our innovation and vibrant work program around the idea of holistic software utility, usability, and general fit for purpose. This individual will have an opportunity to help evolve L53A outcomes and strategy, identify and lead new opportunities, and lead key related activities. They will provide thought leadership, technical leadership, and mentorship across a geographically diverse organization and across a number of different domains and technologies. Roles & Responsibilities: + Thought Leader in a strategic area of focus. + Technical and thought leader in one or more domain and technology + Contribute directly to sponsor work programs in a strategic level through direct contributions, influence, and strategic work shaping + Key member of the organization to shape the department strategy and focus + Works in partnership with Project Leaders on an as required and on-going basis to develop opportunities for staff across the Software Engineering Innovation Center + Active in creating new opportunities for the organization + Work with sponsors and project leads to understand their needs and future vision + Develop position papers, publications, and proposals to establish technical stature + Formulate innovative approaches for transition to sponsors, MITRE’s internal IR&D program or external grants Basic Qualifications: + Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 4 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. + Experience managing projects and/or experience as a direct supervisor / group lead + Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance + Experience developing work programs, shaping work programs, and creating sponsor relationships, especially as related to cyber software engineering, intel, public sector, and/or DOD cyber work programs + 10+ years experience in modern software engineering tools and techniques such as Python, Java, C/C++, and/or Javascript + Experience working with large software systems and large software system processes (technical debt mitigation, agile development, system architecture, legacy modernization, etc) + This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site Preferred Qualifications: + Active Secret clearance + Masters or other advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): None This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Secret Salary compensation range and midpoint: $157,000 - $196,000 - $235,000 Annual Work Location Type: Hybrid MITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
