Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a **Principal / Sr. Principal Modeling and Simulation Power Systems Engineer** and with experience in aircraft subsystems development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Organization in Melbourne, FL. Job Summary: In this role, you will work in collaborative environments to develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, environmental and threat models, and command and control models to support of Operator-In-The-Loop (OITL) mission simulations. You will simulate real-time operations and develops software that simulates physics-based behavior of systems. You may develop and/or prototype advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools to demonstrate concepts to enhance situational awareness and systems command and control. You will model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures. Finally, you will perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis. Responsibilities Include: + Develop software and analytical tools to model behavior of power systems in real-time and constructive simulations. + Develop, integrate, and use graphical user interfaces and visualization tools. + Model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures. + Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis + Provide blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis in mission-level models to help accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects. + Perform engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develop operationally relevant mission scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments. + Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership. Position may be filled as either a Principal Electrical Engineer OR Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer depending on the qualifications below. **Basic Qualifications:** + For Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of related engineering experience + For Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of related engineering experience + Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company. + Computer/engineering skills using C#/C++, JAVA, or other Object-Oriented programming languages + Ability to develop physics-based models and simulations using Object Oriented programming + Experience with MATLAB and Simulink tools/environment + Experience using common test equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, DeweSoft, etc. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Digital or Analog Aircraft Electrical Power Systems experience + Power quality and system stability knowledge or experience (e.g., MIL-STD-704, DO-160) + Ability to develop (C# and JAVA) and integrate prototype and pre-production software to support simulation events + Systems and software integration experience related to Service Oriented Architectures + Ability to work with a team in a rapid prototyping environment + Experience with system of systems modeling tools: AFSIM, Suppressor, or Brawler + Previous experience with 28 VDC, 270 VDC, or 115 VAC + Experience in at least one of the following areas: + Research, Analysis, and Creating Assessments of Foreign Threats to US Military Operations + Vehicle performance analysis + Air vehicle survivability analysis + Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), Air and/or Space platforms + Red and/or Blue CONOPs and TTPs + Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture + Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.) + Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to include project/analysis lead experience **Salary Range:** $95,300 - $142,900 **Salary Range 2:** $118,600 - $178,000 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
