Kelly Government Solutions is hiring for a principal systems engineer on a DoD contract with our customer in Sterling Heights, MI. This is a contract to hire opportunity.

**_As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will:_**
+ Spearhead or assist requirements development and management
+ Develop and direct subsystem and component performance specifications by evaluating and deriving necessary requirements
+ Develop and maintain requirements verification and compliance and supporting artifacts
+ Support requirements decomposition analysis to help drive concept architectures and system characteristics
+ Direct and facilitate architecture development of assigned system, subsystems, and components
+ Drive development and maintenance of interface requirements and interface design information for assigned sub-system, system and components
+ Document concept design selections and generate System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments
+ Coordinate and facilitate formal decisions and trade studies to drive design and document results
+ Support the actualization and monitoring of cost, schedule, and risk
+ Coordinate Systems Engineering activities to influence the design
+ Support vehicle level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone reviews
**Required:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering and six (6) + year’s relevant experience
+ Systems engineering experience performing requirements evaluation, derivation and allocation, and translating requirements to viable concepts design solutions within applicable constraints.
+ Experience developing architecture concepts and evaluating alternatives
+ Knowledge of how to balance system design considering system concept of operations (CONOPS), performance, constraints, and logistics concerns
+ Knowledge of how to plan, conduct and document complex trade studies
+ Knowledge of how to generate System / Subsystem Design Descriptions and capability assessments per the program statement of work
+ Excellent oral and written communication know-how
+ Support requirements development and management
**Preferred:**
+ Logical architecture experience, including development of use cases
+ Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML methodology and tools like Cameo
+ Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
+ Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
+ Have and maintain INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification
+ Guidance and mentoring of younger engineers
