The **Surface Team** at Microsoft is defining the next generation of products to engage and delight our customers. This team is working at the cutting edge of software and hardware to create the future of Microsoft Surface devices. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. Surface is hiring a **Principal Technical Program Manager** to partner with some of the top minds in the industry and build executive level relationships among key internal and external stakeholders to help drive the successful delivery of our next generation of devices with a direct focus on the end-to-end Software experience.
As a **Principal Technical Program Manager** , you will be responsible for leading the definition and development of technology areas across software and hardware, delivering solutions across the Surface portfolio. You will lead and ship multiple products taking a disciplined approach to product development of computing devices. You will get to utilize your cross-organizational collaboration and project management skills to work in a highly innovative, constantly evolving, and ambiguous environment.

**Responsibilities**
+ Drive technical leadership, business goals, project schedules, and team communication across cross-functional teams: experience, development, test, manufacturing and more.
+ Drive a culture of innovation and experimentation throughout the team.
+ Collaborate across Microsoft to develop best-of-breed solutions that are leverageable across multiple architectures and product generations, helping to fuel the Windows ecosystem.
+ Work across Microsoft to integrate OS, applications, services, as well as responsibility for delivering drivers, memory, performance, power, storage and connectivity solutions.
+ Build and manage the Software Product roadmap which outlines the product development timeline and the various features and functionality that will be included in each release.
+ Consider any constraints or dependencies that may impact the development timeline.
+ Identify technology and initiative adoption included in the Software Roadmap Intersection points.
+ Monitor and analyze product performance in the market to make informed decisions about future development and product iterations, including the frame for product backlogs.
+ Balance upcoming releases and priorities as you drive the technical strategy, planning and delivery across products, and report out regularly on status.
+ Be a cultural leader across Surface and Microsoft.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
+ 5+ years of experience with the end-to-end cycle of leading Software program development and management experiences.
+ 5+ years of experience working with OS integration with silicon, hardware and other ecosystem partners.
**Other Requirements**
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
+ 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
+ 5+ years’ experience with summarizing, as well as handling detailed software program management from program initiative, requirements collection till the end of the transferring to operational sustaining support.
+ 5+ years’ experience handling continuous prioritization of tasks, as well as framing options, to ensure products that is released to customers meets business objectives.
+ 5+ years of experience in shipping complex products that require keeping multiple teams and stakeholders aligned and informed while discovering and bringing focus to the most important issues.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
