**Responsibilities**
It is an exciting time at Mayo Clinic, as we are building the most trusted generative AI and LLM-based solutions to empower our staff, improve our practice and transform healthcare. To accelerate our generative AI strategy, we are forming a cross functional team of technical experts. This team will be responsible for:
+ Supporting the Generative AI Program’s Request for Application (RFA) Process, its entrants and winners
+ Providing temporary tiger-team efforts to accelerate key initiatives
+ Expanding the organization’s understanding of LLM technology through:
+ Development of best practices, knowledge assets, and code examples to accelerate the efforts of others
+ Execution of technical proofs of concept and exploration
+ Providing consultations, presentations, and sharing of knowledge across Mayo Clinic to technical and non-technical audiences
+ Providing guidance across the Generative AI program workstreams as technical experts
This position works from direction of CIO and Chief Architect and in partnership with the IT executive team, to realize Mayo Clinic's Technology Strategy and to define and guide alignment of Mayo investments in enterprise architecture, technology selection, product positioning, and platform investments, usually in one or more broad technology domains linked to identifiable Mayo Clinic practice and business strategy. The role works with a portfolio of topics, technologies, technology vendors, and Health IT vendors to monitor industry direction and determine appropriate fit or role within Mayo Clinic. May be responsible for maintaining a technology outlook and vanguard architecture, looking 3 - 5 years into the future within its assigned domains, and is a key contributor to the IT Department's innovation and business-technology alignment efforts. The position's focus is enterprise-wide, and requires strong customer-facing, change management and transformation skills. The role requires strong communications skills and ability both to communicate technology decisions and issues to Mayo Clinic executive leadership, and to represent and evangelize them to broad business and IT constituencies. This position may be selected to be technology leader for large IT projects where technology involved is significant requiring numerous technical and architect decisions to be made. This position is a member of the Department of Information Technology and senior leadership member of the IT Strategy and Architecture Office. This position may provide direct management functions of other Technical Specialists or Enterprise Architects in the Department. Individuals in this role are expected to serve as a role-model and to mentor emerging talent within the technology career track in Mayo Clinic IT.
100% remote role; the employee must live in the U.S. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.
Occasional travel (approximately twice a quarter) required; additional travel may be necessary as dictated by business needs.
**Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related technical field plus ten years of progressive technology leadership experience required; Or, Associate's degree in information technology or related technical field plus 12 years of progressive technology leadership experience. Administrative experience must include working with corporate leadership, administrators and technology staff with demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership. Exceptional technical acumen, business acumen and ability to simplify and communicate complex topics in business language. Experience in information technology architecture, software product development and acquisition, development and management of database systems, infrastructure and operations for data networks and computer hardware acquisition and deployment. Excellent communication and team building and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to develop architectural designs and provide pragmatic and effective leadership for their development and implementation.
Experience working in or with Healthcare Industry. Advanced expertise in multiple technologies. Experience or qualification in related fields, such as medical informatics, statistics, or engineering. Advanced project and deliverable consistency through repeatable and reliable performance. Advanced initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks and assignments on time. Experience working with healthcare technology. Must be able to work independently and able to lead and mentor in a team environment. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
