Principal UX Researcher

 

This role can be based at any of the following Shift4 locations: Tampa, FL / Las Vegas, NV / Center Valley, PA (headquarters) Remote based work may be considered in certain situations. Relocation assistance may be provided. 

 

As the Principal UX Researcher, you will lead our user research efforts, reporting directly to the VP of Product Design. You will analyze user behavior to enhance the design of intuitive merchant interfaces. 

 

Your Day-to-Day

Cross-Functional Team Involvement: Play a crucial role in cross-functional product teams, identifying research opportunities, defining program requirements, shaping product roadmaps, guiding design evolution, and championing the customer voice across the organization. Independent Research Leadership: Lead and manage research programs from start to finish. Pinpoint the right research questions, define participant samples, select methodologies, design studies, and execute with meticulous attention to detail and rigor. Presentation and Insight Sharing: Present compelling insights and recommendations to various teams and leaders, using strong storytelling skills to facilitate constructive debate and drive customer-centric decision-making. Data Integration: Leverage insights from various research functions and data sources (e.g., market research, product marketing, analytics) throughout the product development lifecycle. Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between design, product management, and marketing teams, ensuring alignment among all stakeholders. Workshop and Sprint Facilitation: Facilitate workshops and design sprints, presenting relevant findings, proposing research opportunities, and influencing the evolution of product and design strategies. Community Thought Leadership: Act as a thought leader within the Experience Design community, driving strategic change initiatives, advocating for user-centric approaches, optimizing workflows, and establishing best practices. Growth Mindset: Actively seek and provide feedback, experiment with new approaches, expand your skillset, and mentor other researchers to foster their growth.

 

Responsibilities

Formative Research: Conduct formative research by collaborating with industry experts. Evaluative Research: Perform evaluative research through usability testing. Survey Design: Design surveys to gather targeted insights. Data Analysis: Apply statistical analysis to interpret data, enhancing data query precision and relevance using generative AI. Project Leadership: Lead research projects that influence the development of merchant solutions. User Needs Translation: Translate user needs into research that drives product design and innovation. User-Centered Tools: Create and utilize user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints. User-Centered Design: Ensure user-centered design principles are integral to product development. Field Research: Conduct field research through direct merchant interviews to refine user experiences. Customer Feedback Integration: Collaborate with teams to integrate customer feedback into product enhancements. Beta Testing: Lead beta testing efforts, analyzing KPIs to align with strategic goals.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 8+ years of UX research experience, preferably in restaurants & point of sale. Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Ability to synthesize and present findings to influence product and design strategies. Experience in developing user personas, journey maps, and scenarios. Proven track record of collaborative work with cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Passion for mentoring and advancing UX research practices.
