Principle Software Engineering Manager

Our work ensures that the heart of Microsoft’s customer data platform is healthy, running well, and that issues are mitigated quickly and efficiently. We are innovating to detect, root cause, and fix issues using AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning). This is critical for service quality for millions of Microsoft consumer, education, and enterprise customers using Copilot, Office applications, Teams, Windows, Bing, and Surface devices. Define the business goals for the team then create and execute on a plan to meet those goals. _This role requires you to be onsite 3 days a week in Microsoft's offices in Redmond, WA. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Lead and support a global team of 25+ engineers and deliver high quality business objectives. + Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance and live site. + Partner with Program Management to meet immediate and longer-term business objectives. + Collaborate with teams across the company in Office 365 and Azure. + Hire and retain top talent. + Foster a healthy and inclusive team environment. + Be a mentor for the people on your team and help them grow. **Qualifications** **Required/Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 6+ years people management experience. **Other Requirements** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Additional or Preferred Qualifications** + Experience with infrastructural AI/ML systems. + 10+ years of experience building commercial grade software, with much of that experience in a large scale, high availability service. Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
