The Printing Manager will lead a team of 70 employees in the operations of our Mitchell, SD Consumer Packaging (folding carton) facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will serve as a member of the site leadership team and directly influence business results. The position is intended to be an introduction to leadership at GPI, as many promotional opportunities are available as you progress in your career. This role will also manage 5 salaried employees who oversee safety, quality, productivity and pre-press.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Manages and facilitates the long-term goals of the department, member of the plant leadership team. Responsible for safety, quality, efficiencies, productivity along with interfacing with maintenance department. Provides a communication network between direct reports and upper management. Works with all employees to maintain a safe work environment. Encourages and leads the department to work safely and to continuously improve production practices. Develop and implement safety procedures and policies with the EH&S Manager in achieving departmental and plant safety goals. Assures that the department maintains quality standards and uses SPC techniques for problem resolution through knowledge of product specifications and training of personnel; including plant & SQF processes. Ensures that product quality, production efficiencies, and overall productivity meets or exceeds established standards. Strives to have a technical proficiency and understanding of the machinery in the department. Provides assistance to the team in problem resolution and assures that testing and product development is carried out in a professional manner. Works effectively with other department managers to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals, interfacing with the Finishing department. Must provide leadership in full support of GPI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork). Must provide leadership and be fully supportive of all GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes. In the absence of the Printing Manager, daily responsibilities will be transferred to a Supervisor and/or Project Lead/Production Lead. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards. Other applicable duties as assigned related to the department manager.
Qualifications, Education, & Experience
Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels. Must be quality-conscious and customer-oriented. Must possess the ability to develop improvements, and achieve budget via production control, cost constraints, etc. A four-year college degree in management, business, finance, or similar, and/or equipment-specific experience in the folding carton industry is preferred. Previous supervisory experience is required.

Pay Range: $79,740.00 - $106,290.00
