Position Overview

NRG is seeking a Privacy Analyst to partner closely with multiple levels of the business to enhance our dynamic and constantly evolving privacy program. You will help build privacy-by-design processes, identify and address gaps, and lead privacy risk assessments in concert with legal counsel and technical staff. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to interact with a diverse cross-section of our company. Essential Responsibilities

Conducts data privacy impact assessments, audits, and analyses and identifies areas requiring privacy-related improvements in product and service development and business operations and enhancements to achieve privacy goals. Matures the NRG Privacy Office working with technology solutions/tools to scale the privacy program’s strategic and tactical operations. Monitors and evaluates evolving privacy laws, rules, regulations, and industry best practices to help maintain program compliance, differentiation, and strategic alignment. Partners with the brands and departments to centralize NRG’s privacy-by-design principles and processes. Assists in leading dynamic cross-functional efforts that ensure NRG maintains industry-leading practices in protecting personal data. Collaborates with product and engineering teams to draft and implement privacy controls for use by the brands throughout the product or service life cycle. Promotes privacy best practices for customer, employee, partner, and vendor privacy. Assists in responding to internal and external privacy related inquiries and investigations, as well as provide support for privacy defensibility and readiness. Works with Data Governance to enhance our data lake by meticulous data mapping and data inventorying. Interacts with Cybersecurity on data retention/destruction and records management program and to implement privacy-related controls and improve privacy incident management. Coordinates privacy training and awareness activities including work with privacy champions group, special projects, and privacy initiatives across the enterprise. Uses strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills and ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in privacy/compliance Undergraduate or graduate degree in compliance or technology-related field Familiarity with OneTrust (or similar privacy platform solution) Experience in data mapping, data governance, and/or data inventory Knowledge of general privacy policies, procedures, and best practices Excellent analytical and research skills Knowledge of data technology and use of basic analytics tools and dashboards Experience with MSFT Office 365 and related tools (e.g., Excel, PPT, Word) Strong written and verbal communications and influencing skills Proven history of success working with both technical product and engineering and compliance Collaborative team player with sense of humor and ability to self-motivate and execute on independent projects.

 

Preferred

Legal or master’s degree in compliance or technology-related field IAPP Certifications CIPP/US, CIPP/C, CIPP/IT and/or CIPT preferred. OneTrust certification in Data Mapping, Data Discovery, PRA, and/or Assessments Understanding of privacy frameworks and enabling technologies Work experience in energy and/or smart home.
